Good Music, Good Cause

Move over candy, wrapping paper, car washes and bake sales--there's a new fund-raising technique on the block. Music Rewards Fundraising's Children's Music Program offers schools, and other nonprofit organizations an alternative traditional fund-raising products: family-friendly CDs and cassettes.

Says Grant Olson, president of Music Rewards Fundraising, "We've come up with a fresh approach to help parents support schools and make good musical decisions for their kids."

This is good news for parents concerned about the influence mainstream music is having on their kids, as well as the scant selection of family-friendly music available in stores. It can be good news, too, for organizations sponsoring the fund raising, because they receive 40 to 50 percent of the profits.

With her award-winning "Hunk-Ta-Bunk-Ta" series leading the list of available titles, singer/songwriter Katherine Dines is spokesperson for the Children's Music Program. Starting this fall, she'll be performing kickoff concerts in schools nationwide.

Other titles in the program include Kids' Dance Party, 50 All-Time Favorites, Kids' Silly Sing-A-Longs and others.
